I just thought it was important to post because nobody is really talking about it, sorry if I've posted misinformation.
I read the study you posted, still sounds bad but doesn't seem to mention current reversal at all.
Also your study seems to be by 'A.S., R.C., E.O., V.G.-G., A.T., and A.C.N.G. designed research; A.S., A.N., E.O., V.G.-G., R.S., M.R.M., T.S., and F.A.H. performed research; A.S., E.O., and V.G.-G. analyzed data; and A.S. wrote the paper with contributions from all co-authors.'
the article references Spanish marine scientists at 'El Institut de Ciències del Mar'.

So yes, several of the authors in the Rising Surface Salinity article are from Institut de Ciències del Mar, like Estrella Olmedo and Verónica González‐Gambau, for example.
That was posted June 30 and the article says the study in question was posted July 2, so I think it is a different one.
