In the Quran, Prophet Muhammad never hated or put very strict laws against gay people, so why nowadays do some Muslim countries execute gay people?

Yep, as I titled, why now are so many Muslims and all these countries anti lgbtq while in the Quran it never even outright said to punish gay people and lgbtq people, could someone explain?
