Here's the weird thing. Best Korea is the best country ever and is not authoritarian (made up word) or oppressive at all, yet they prefer to live in the evil imperialist west? Like I know the whole "if you love that country so much why don't you blah blah" is old and tired, but if they GENUINELY believe the hype, legitimately why wouldn't they want to live there?

  I might be conflating them with one of the many other tankies I have tagged, so I can't say I know for sure. If anyone can fact check me that'd be welcome.
  What I do know is that there are some tankies on ml who live in the US, and I can't comprehend why they wouldn't leave for best Korea.
- rich people tend to be lazy.
  most tankies are ironically rich and feel guilty and ashamed for being rich, but they're too lazy or inept to assist with their cause. So it's much easier to do nothing but shout words.
- Because for better or worse. Tanky central is the flagship development server for the Lemmy software. And if as an admin you want your issues or concerns to at least pretend to be heard. You must give the campist undue deference.
  Your server at least also has a piefed interface. Don't know if world ever will. Though I definitely would encourage it.
  
  It seems to have worked out fine for lemmy.cafe and dubvee to defederate. But no major instance has dared.

I live in South Korea and served mandatory military service. Every time I come across this kind of shit I lose my mind.
I understand why they need the bomb. I understand that a lot of shit on the mainstream media is not 100% faithfully true about them.
They are also crazy, inhumane, deserve way more condemnation and ultimately, consequences. To think that a country that executes people for escaping from them can be "fine".
They have never recognized Israel

I hoped this was just a knee-jerk reaction to imperialism, which is so unappealing on its own but they keep coming up with new ways to fuck my head up. I really hope that they move to NK and enjoy life sans human rights and freedom to talk shit on the Internet.

- I feel you. I live in a country that was at the wrong (red) side of iron curtain for 40 years... Crossing border to the west was punishable by death. Why? When commies were always praising the regime like the best thing ever created, like it's basically paradise on earth (yet you often couldn't buy basic stuff like toilet paper and queues were everywhere for everything), why shoot someone who wants to go to worse place?
Ah, I think that explains why users like Cowbee can say some of the most ridiculous shit while everyone elses comments are deleted.
I'm starting to think that maybe I shouldn't be trusting the Lemmy codebase.
