Great Horned owls are amazing with their intense yellow eyes and fierce facial expression. Screech owls are awesome with their beautiful eyes and such expressive faces, and nothing beats them in cuteness factor.

But there's just something very special about Barred owls. They just appear to always be so mellow. And they have a certain mystique and even a mysticism to them. I think when we refer to a "wise owl" it's the Barred owl that comes to mind.

You really can get lost in those eyes wondering what they are thinking. When looking at them closely with those dark eyes that rarely show emotion, it feels like they are looking into your soul. So, you better make sure your soul is pure before venturing out to photograph them.
