  • I won a competition. I wrote a story about a disabled child that, now I think back on it, was alllll kinds of wrong. Anyhoo, I won a trip to the Christmas circus in Rotterdam, a fancy dinner in the Euromast and first class train tickets to get there.

  • I've tried to participate in so many giveaways and lotteries and never won anything. I believe that's my superpower: lose against the odds.

  • Yes, when I was much younger I won 2nd place in a Diablo II fan site giveaway. You had to answer 5 difficult trivia questions about Diablo II to be entered into a drawing and my name was selected second, so second place.

Unfortunately, I never received my prize. The prize was shipped to the wrong state, they used the wrong two letter abbreviation. If I recall correctly the city & street was a valid address in the other state. I tried to contact the organizers and the post office (obviously they couldn't help) but it never planned out.

I think my prize would have been a small Diablo figurine.

  • I wrote to the show Video & Arcade Top 10 and they sent me a copy of Super Mario 64.

  • a ps4, sorta.

this is gonna sound weird but giveaways used to be illegal here. there have been laws about lotteries since the 1300s, and in the 1700s the king decided that lotteries needed to have his personal stamp of approval or they were illegal. this has been changed and churned over the years but as it last stood, even temporary lotteries needed to have a license to operate from the local government. this also meant that only the state was allowed to run casinos. weird, i know. this only changed in 2019, at which point we got inundated with commercials for online casinos and the part of our healthcare system that deals with gambling addictions instantly collapsed.

anyway, to get around the need to seek a lottery license, giveaways usually had an "utslagsfråga", an elimination question. this way the person managing the giveaway can show that there was some skill involved in the selection process, which makes it a contest and not a lottery. so technically i won a contest for a ps4, not a giveaway.

  • A decade ago I randomly won a Vizio google tv box from a tech site give away. I don’t remember its ultimate fate but I’m sure it’d be useless at this point due to lack of updates anyway.

  • Yup, I've won a couple things. I won some tickets to a concert which I handed over to friends since I don't go to concerts, and I also won some art supplies!

  • About 630€ worth of SteelSeries gaming peripherals including their flagship keyboard and mouse at the time.

I had to RMA the keyboard twice because of its input messing up; I didn't bother trying to replace the third one once that messed up, I just bought a Model M instead. The mouse was fine, albeit very over-engineered; It has an OLED screen on its side and a vibration motor for some reason. Had to RMA that once for wear issues but I still use the second one as it's a great mouse all things considered.

Their customer support is great, their products not so much.

  • When I was younger I won a copy of the board game 'Game of Life' through some online giveaway. Think I played it once or twice xD

I also wonder cinema tickets for me and some friends. It was a competition a local cinema did for designing a costume for Stuart Little, around the time that film came out. The tickets were a runners up prize, but I remember it being pretty great - about 10 of us and we were given free drinks and snacks!

  • In terms of irl won some free art before :3, in general I've won a decent bit of items in various mmo type games tho.. also once won a floatation board thingy in a juice lottery as a kid.. and a few contest prizes but that's getting a bit far from a giveaway

  • Won a CSGO knife worth 250 euros at the time

Won about 100 euros worth of gift cards over time from allkeyshops to use on games
