Mod team intros and discussion, community feedback

Hi new mod team, Since we don't have team modmail capabilities yet, let's use this to intro ourselves to community, as well as to have conversations about the direction of the community ( like how do we define "tiny"?) based on members feedback.

  • Alrighty. I've got this setup an a browser now and should be more or less reliably able to browse.

Not sure how this modding thing works. Do I browse the content and remove from there? Is there a place to see reported content?

As for defining tiny. I'd say "up to a handfull"

    • “up to a handfull”

Holy cow - Lebron James' hands could hold triple DDD's - haha!

Anyway, modding is simply a combination of the following (in mixture of whichever percentages from 0 to 100, based solely on you as the individual):

      • Having fun (must be 100%) - otherwise there must be other activities that are more fulfilling 😉
      • Reviewing posts, removing irrelevant posts/spam - ban repeated offenders or spambots
      • Removing unwanted comments, banning abusive members that don't contribute to community. Some are simply trolls looking for attention and it's best to just ban them right at the beginning
      • Posting/Sharing (whether own OC or under the fair-use DMCA guidelines) in moderated communities. Try to be aware of content (genre, studios, etc) that have been DMCA claimed in the past or banned from here
      • Posting/crossposting to other relevant communities as a way to share (and to let others know about your own communities - this is the best way to help grow a community as well as to let others expand their horizons. My general rule of thumb is that any image/gif is likely relevant to probably 5 other communities and would be welcomed - OTOH posting the same item all at once to 5 or more places starts to feel like spam.
      • Inviting others (especially relevant OC posters (not spammers) to post at your own communities (or other relevant ones): examples: 1, 2
      • Recruiting potential mods - example, example

So basically, a mod team made up of different people with diversity and different focus/approaches is what makes the community come alive.

If you haven’t yet, visit !modcoord@lemmynsfw.com and get yourself added there.

    • Wonderful! Yes, just browse a bit and get the feel of the different communities and how posts align (or not) with the sidebar of each community. Not much traffic yet so we likely won't be seeing reports - at the top of page next to you r username, you should see the messages and the reports icons. Clicking on it will give you new as well as old history.
[Addition] you can also use the "modlog" at sidebar of a community (scope is limited to just that community)

      Will answer more later.

Try some postings yourself. You're welcome to take any posts I've done and crosspost it to other relevant communities. Just be aware that direct uploading of images to LemmyNSFW when posting is limited to 1mb image size.

  • Hey all. Still trying to get acclimated to the new platform as well as winding down activity on reddit. I may be a bit slow on activity here for a bit but I'll try to pop in once a day for 5min at least.

Glad to be here and to share interest in fine images!

  • I took the liberty to update the community's icon - model's name is Elis. Feel free to update to other models as well as if you want to try creating banner collage.

  • Many others have expressed interest in helping mod here via this https://lemmynsfw.com/post/164573

While I'm not against adding these folks, I would love to first encourage/have OC creators become part of mod teams.

    Thoughts?
