What did you guys think of Unicorn Warriors Eternal?
I felt the animation was interesting but the plot was very odd. I wanted it to go somewhere more understandable but I think they were waiting for another couple of seasons that they never got.
The animation was like a love letter to the Betty Boop era of animation. Leave it to Genndy Tartakovsky to create such a beauty.
The story was ambitious, but it definitely needed many seasons to flesh out a major storyline. Every season could be self contained in that the season could focus on a single incarnation of the main character terms, but an overarching plot involving the characters as eternal reincarnations would have played to the strengths of the show obviously being a grand fantasy epic across space and time.
Good show with a lot of potential, but sadly I don't think there was much of a target audience in mind other than animation enthusiasts, and thusly it never got more seasons.
I’m not so sure it didn’t have a target audience so much as it was a casualty of the shift to dispersed streaming where everyone pays a ton for platforms so they only consume what’s on it.
It just dropped at the wrong time and didn’t see widespread chatter because everything is so fractured.
It feels like these days things need to either be picked up by a platform willing to ride it out (like Apple+ seems to be), or find some way to get a solid piracy footprint before the contract ends. And that’s a tall order for animation not aimed at kids, sadly.
But most of the best animation in the last 5-ish years is super difficult to find on most piracy sites.. so nobody gets a chance to actually see if they like it.
That's probably true. But I haven't experienced a lack of finding adult animation gems on pirate sites over the last 5 years. Any titles you can give as an example that are hard to pirate? Just curious.
