I know I've played a game that said "press space to jump" and when you pressed space, you didn't jump and some NPC starts making fun of you. The game didn't actually have a jump mechanic.

In Portal 2 you're supposed to press space to say "Apple" but since it has a silent protagonist you jump instead and are ridiculed for that.
