I can understand giving him a chance to prove himself this year. I can even be convinced that two chances was worth it. But at this point they have to move on. We’re talking the difference between missing the playoffs and being a Super Bowl contender and all they really need to do is overpay for someone’s backup in a trade. And they can probably do it for a couple 4ths. A 2nd at the worst. That’s not going to cripple them for years.
There isn't a backup in the league that makes them a contender.
Jacoby Brissett didn’t do too bad last year with a significantly worse Browns roster. The Jets beat the Bills (a Super Bowl contender) with Zach Wilson. It’s absolutely possible they’d win a Super Bowl with a Jacoby level QB. I’m not saying they’d be a guarantee but no one is. The Jags almost made the Super Bowl with Blake Bortles.
Wasn't there a rumor that Matt Ryan had reached out about playing for them? And Carson Wentz?
I realize neither of those guys looked great last time they were on the field but it sure feels like they'd be better than what is going on right now. Wilson looks like Tweety bird against the monstars every time he's out there.
Matt Ryan I think is just too far past his prime. I’d actually bring in Wentz to at least try. But that’s assuming he’d take a smaller contract, his pride seems to be a problem.
