personally, I think academia is gonna be on the chopping block. there are so many spineless, sniveling fascist collaborators running massive capital formations we call "universities", eager to preside over an accelerated raiding of institutional value once they are granted the free hand to do so by a federal bully teasing the withholding of federal funding. these scumbags want to race each other to the bottom, so long as their remuneration packets go up and they can crush whatever remains of the shared governance models or any staff unions that have resisted their dreams of an administratively-bloated, neoliberal, managerial university that owns all the real estate, pays no property tax, and extracts everything from the students, educators, researchers and workers that create all the value and social capital. what happened to WVU in the last years is coming for all of the state schools.
the shuttering of DEI offices and eviscerating of what remains of these public institutions in the dissemination of critical thinking has only just begun. get ready for all job training, all the time. University of [Blank], Brought to you by Amazon and Butch Jenkins Motors.

and honestly that's a good thing.
People need to get Athusser pilled. Universities aren't "public goods", they are ideological state apparatuses. The harm they cause (the imperialist collaborationism, the above average incidents of sexual assault andremoved, the mental health epidemic they create on campus that lingers in their victims post graduation, the destruction they do to their host city's economies and housing markets) is not incidental to the workings o the university but instrumental to its operations.
Let them die, let them die, let them shrivel up and die.
nah, i'm not really gonna get on board with "this institution is corrupt, so it should get much worse and we shouldn't have publicly supported higher education anymore."
I think it would be very funny if he didn't do anything at all. And just played golf all day. Like he only won the election so he wouldn't go to jail, lol
All these giant declarations are somehow effective to his base, they never get mad when he doesn't actually do any of them because he just says the commies stopped him.
The difference between him and libs is he at least pretends he'll do something as opposed to liberal campaigning which is just lecturing you about why you're ignorant if you expect them to do anything.
I think Trump will do whatever the MIC and other companies want him to do, unless it goes too much against his ego. That is one of the main reasons why I have some doubt he will end the Ukraine-Russo war. The Arms Industry is currently making a lot of money.
Yeah sure, but keep in mind that the absolute dumbest, most counterproductive thing people did in his last term to call him out was telling him he still hadn't built his wall.
This is something i think about often. One of the most common criticisms from the democrats was the fact that he was not being as fash as he had promised, which ended up with Biden and Kamala going scorched earth on the border, and Kamala promising everything short of building the wall, but "properly, in a respectful manner". Suddenly the default of all mainstream political discourse is that there are too many undesirables, and the disagreement is on how do you want to brutalize them. Things like that make me lose any hope i have on any american people to actually do better.
For starters, it doesn't work very well to call right wingers out on not being right wing enough. Because they tend to just not care about ideological consistency or honesty, you're not really getting a hook into them with this. What you are doing instead is accepting the premises they've set, even if it's just as a hypothetical. You allow them to set the agenda and to frame the conversation. That's exactly what they want, and all you're getting out of it if you succeed in pointing out their "flaws" is that they aren't as Hitlerist as they could be, which is a W for them with anybody outside of the most hardcore nazi crowd that's so unhinged they do not even care about being strategically mask-on where it is opportunate, which is a fairly small subset of their base. All their less zealous supporters can go "look, he isn't as bad as you make him out to be, you lefties just call everyone you disagree with a nazi". On an argumentative level, you're entirely playing into their hands when you come after them like that.
This also means that you forego pushback against the policy you're debating because you are only discussing its execution, not that it exists in the first place. In the case of immigration and militarizing the border, we've observed a constant rightward shift over the last couple of decades. Being anti-immigration is now a bipartisan issue in the US (and a multi-partisan one in the EU). Thousands of deaths at the border are not something that worries "moderates" any longer, being seen as weak on securing the border is. I'm not blaming that on failed rhethoric strategies, but i do see these strategies as a reaction to a previous rightward shift on the issue amongst liberal parties. They know that imperialism and climate change will lead to increasing migration, they also know that this gets racists riled up and they know that under capitalism, they will never be able to end imperialist war or mitigate human impact on the climate. So their reaction is higher fences, more drones, more internment and deportation to keep refugees out.
God this will be so funny if Musk loses all his government subsidies because Trump doesn't know Tesla is an electric car company. And Tesla is one of the few American car companies making electric vehicles in large numbers. Does Ford even make hybrids, let alone completely electric?
Tesla isn't an electric car company it's a tech bro finance company.
They're the highest valued car company in America and they make like 20 cars a month and recall half of them.
They haven't had a new car in years other than the cybertruck which has largely turned the company into a laughingstock to anybody not printing money from stock options.
Someone else mentioned the electric F-150. GM has done a couple of electric cars on and off over the past decade or so - I've definitely seen a few Chevy Bolts and Chevy Volts around in my city.
I can't imagine any of them being particularly impressive
People tell me "omg a Vance presidency would be so horrible!!" But they fail to consider that Trump OD'ing on party drugs before his inauguration would be so fucking funny it's unreal. The white washing news reporting, the Q theories, the solemn libs, a second Jan 6th.
Comrades it would be SO funny. I'd laugh until they gave me grippy socks.
