“We’re releasing new entries in several beloved but dormant franchises in the next couple of years, should we discount those classic games to get as many people as interested as possible in buying the new ones when they release?”
“We could… or, we could pull all those titles from eshops, and instead offer them behind a subscription service paywall to a populace already burnt out on subscription services.”
I want to ask Sega how the SUPERGAME initiative is going. Massively multiplayer Crazy Taxi, right? That new Jet Set Radio is a crime against decency. They got mogged by Bomb Rush Cyberfunk honestly and fuck em.
I dunno how anyone can be truly mad at Sega anymore though. They're bastards, but they've been disappointing since the Sega Sammy merger and internal shakeups around 2005. The "Dreamcast Collection" was awful, they've never moved past selling the same Mega Drive games over and over, (hint, Saturn emulator takes effort to make) they've been sitting on a ton of dead games. Unserious publisher, so even though I can't really get mad at them anymore I feel like they've always been underrated as a shit company, compared to the Ubisofts or Capcoms or EAs.
