You can like the BFG and also cute animals and nature.
The loss of Daisy was what truly damned the forces of Hell. Sure, he still would have kicked some demon ass, but they went and made it personal.

  They land in salt lake city for the hell on earth portion, and the Mormons are mega survivalists who have basically one of the last real bases against the invasion.
  I do remember them mentioning that positions in the IRS and other government agencies allowed the Mormons the ability to stockpile the stuff they needed to do so, but the actual IRS and american government turns collaborationist with the alien invaders at the first opportunity.
