Dropping this article (The Intellectual we Deserve) here as I do whenever I come across a Jordan Peterson post. The article is long but it is an incredibly thoughtful and well researched breakdown of Jordan Peterson, his tactics, and his following. I found it very insightful.
Of course, I’m glad you enjoyed it (if that’s even the right word to use).
I was particularly horrified with the example that Peterson himself gives where he incessantly pokes the child while the child is scared/crying. A trained and certified psychologist no less!
I haven’t read the article yet but before I do, my guess is:
He is going to blame censorship or something like that.
He is actually doing it cause he is rich now and wants to be in a tax haven country.
Edit:
Yep, I was right:
“The issue with the College of Psychologists is very annoying, to say the least, and the new legislation that the Liberals are attempting to push through, Bill C-63, we’d all be living in a totalitarian hellhole if it passes,” he told his daughter.
“The tax situation is out of hand. The government in Canada at the federal level is incompetent beyond belief, and it’s become uncomfortable for me in my neighbourhood in Toronto,” he added.
Says the man who has been freely expressing his ideas for 6 years and making lots of money doing so, he just now wants to keep as much of it.
The funny thing is, he's gonna claim censorship, but Poilievre wants to ban porn and implement digital IDs. North America is fucked for at least the next 4 years.
It must've been hard escaping the Saskatchewinian gulag that the CCP (Canadian Communist Party) locked him up in for questioning the woke, trans agenda.
Why would he move to Florida? It's constantly getting fucked by hurricanes. And once Trump defunds NOAA, nobody will be able to see them coming accurately.
...Perhaps Trump will run everything out of mar a lago until a big storm wrecks it all.
Because "clean your room" was never actually about the benefits of cleaning your room. It was a transparent attempt to make people not look at systemic problems with society.
The irony, of course, being that his personal life is a total fucking mess, and yet he doesn't listen to his own lesson and focus on himself, he spends enormous amounts of effort telling other people not to worry about systemic problems.
It’s actually an argument about the complexity of the systematic problems with society.
Basically, if the systematic problems of society are more complex than the mess in your room. Therefore if you don’t have the energy, precision, care, and attention to clean your room, whatever model of society you’re using to judge it is woefully inadequate to actually describe or understand the problem and you need to recognize you’re about to fuck up in a major way by shadow boxing against the ultra-simplified version of the problem you keep in your head.
It’s kind of like saying “Oh you want to eat a bowling ball? Here eat this golf ball first. Don’t want to eat the golf ball? Too big to swallow? Great, now rethink your plan of eating that bowling ball, which is far bigger than the golf ball.”
