If we could somehow merge steam's linux support, with GOG's dedication to DRM-free preservation of games
I really tried to support GOG for a long time, but steam was much easier when i went 100% linux
I use Heroic Games Launcher to run GOG and Epic games on Linux. It'd be great to get some official support, but it's the next best thing.
Allowing 3rd party clients is better than official support
Stores shouldn’t also be in control of the client
I haven't had any issues with gig + lutris, quite a smooth experience actually.
Though most of the games in my library are older tbf.
Steam has been so easy since proton, i honestly never learned to use lutris. I think i played with it once and gave up, but this was 6 years ago at this point. Maybe its easier to use now
I've had fewer problems with GoGo + Lutris in Linux than I've had with Steam in Linux, to the point that I had to pirate one of my Steam games in order to be able to run it in Linux (the pirate version runs just fine).
Mind you, I get the impression that older AAA games are the most problematic ones, thought that's maybe because I don't run anything with Kernel Anti-Cheat and nowadays don't really do only (in fact all my games in Lutris are run inside a firejail sandbox with network access disabled).
