2024/2025 Arsenal Players Average Match Rating Scores as of 30/09/2024
Howdy all! For a little while now I've been considering collecting all the data from the post-match ratings to help (mostly me) visalise how we think players have performed throughout the season in all competitions.
I also kind of enjoy tinkering on spreadsheets. I know my way around, but not overly experienced. So, this kind of also scratches an itch since I am "between jobs".
I've included all players including those out on loan and anybody named on the bench who didn't play any minutes. This was so if they do potentially feature in a future game, for whatever reason, I won't have to add them in later. I also thought it would be interesting to track what was happening with each player at those times (i.e. Bench, Injured, Cup Tied, etc).
Whilst writing this I realised I don't have dates for any matches. So, that's something I'll add in at some point.
I also plan on doing something similar for the 23/24 season (maybe not as extensive), but I used this as a smaller test and spring board to find a layout I liked that worked. This was also a little less overwhelming considering we've only played 8 games compared to 38+.
If you would like me to post updates to the ratings every week/month/year/never, let me know. Otherwise, feel free to critique, view, discuss, ignore at your own leisure.
I know I said this already, but this is super cool! I will point out that the 23/24 season did include friendlies iirc cuz I was less busy then XD

It looks like I was being a little too ambitious. I think I was trying to find a single value from multiple columns and then use a vlookup in reverse and it just didn't know what to do. I tried to use an array in the range to point to E4:H43 first, then to D4:D43, but that also failed.
I managed to find out about xlookup which is apparently more robust. However, I can only use it for a single column. There probably is a way to fandangle it, but a lot of the information is kinda washing over me and a little out of my comprehension at this point, lol.
I'm going to have the xlookup just focus on the overall column instead to find the highest and lowest values and then return the player name value. I could probably have different high and low stats per comp. I'll see how I go.

Kidding of course. I was messing around with a vlookup before bed and didn'tclear it. I wanted it to index the names of the player who has received the highest and lowest score.
I'm not the strongest with vlookups, but I think I have it right. However, sheets tells me there's no value of 10 in the range I've provided. So, I was using that section as a mini test.
Before that point though, when I included the entire table, it kept pointing specifically to row 11 and was indexing information from that row only. When I changed it to only include the player names and the other columns, I started to get the no 10 value found.
It was bewildering
Re: not being able to find 10, I think your range is shifted over one to the right.
=VLOOKUP(K10,E4:I43,5) would do it.
