The number of people experiencing homelessness rose to more than 653,000 in 2023, a 12% increase from 2022, according to a December report from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
That sort of thing happens when us poors are constantly getting priced out of existence more and more each year. Not sure why people think cost of living skyrocketing while labor wages stagnate seems to have zero correlation here but it sure as fuck would be great if the government that is supposed to serve us would actually try to help instead of sending billions of dollars overseas to fund genocides.
PS: housing first initiatives have a track record of working while shaming amd spitting on the homeless does not. Similarly safe drug use sites have a record of reducing use compared to shaming the homeless who struggle with addiction. But I fucking digress. Fuck this country.
