The event earned media attention as Melania Trump this year spent even less time campaigning for her husband’s presidential campaign than in past cycles.
I've definitely met gay men who hate other gay men that they think "act gay," and they're pretty much always racist and incredibly misogynistic, too. I can see them thinking they're different and special enough that the leopards won't eat their faces. And then they usually cry about it when no one wants to sleep with them.
To be clear, I haven't met that many, but as a queer woman, the LGBTQ+ community is sadly not immune to being as shitty as any other. I had to specify no fucking TERFs on my last dating profile.
They've been around awhile. During the pre-MAGA, "friends across the aisle" times I could see the value of creating a group that generally aligns with the Republican platform (low taxes, small government, etc.) but supports gay rights and pushes for progress on that issue from within the party.
Today though, anti-LGBT sentiment is so strong within the party that it's hard to understand why the Log Cabin Republicans continue to exist, especially when they are openly shunned by the party.
Rich people know that laws don’t apply to them. Log Cabin Republicans probably figure that Republican policies will benefit them financially, and their wealth will insulate them from any practical inconvenience from the anti-LGBT policies. Sure, it will make life unbearable for millions of people, but those people aren’t them, so who cares? I don’t think it’s any more complicated than that.
Have you ever met a gay dude who makes a ton of money?
I know several, and let me tell you that money changes people regardless of which tab they prefer to insert into which slot. They become everything that any other rich person becomes except that they like to fuck their own kind.
At that level of wealth, so far, the money supersedes the sexual preference because, you know, money. The sex stuff is, so far, just seen as eccentric.
Gay repubs are gonna find themselves on the wrong side of a line one day and they'll be completely surprised that it happened to them. This is why we must prevent fascism.
It doesnt even say in the article what she spoke about. I can only imagine money events like this absolutely warp your perception of reality. Six figures? To say what? Something that wasn't even worth reporting over the money that was going around? All I saw was financial figures in the article and how Melania's absence is extremely abnormal for a campaigning nominee. Everything is fucking outlandish in GOP land.
