A new poll finds most U.S. adults plan to watch or listen to some element of Thursday's presidential debate.
I’m a very engaged voter, and I’m pretty sure I won’t be watching this debate. I know more than I need to about both candidates, so the only reason I’d watch is for entertainment value and to see who fucks up the most. That’s not a valuable use of my time, nor is it a good reason for having a debate.
I don’t have much sympathy for undecided voters at this point. If you plan to vote for Trump, for any reason, then I don’t respect you. This debate won’t change that.

Both Biden and Trump will stand at identical lecterns, with their positions on stage determined by a coin toss administered by CNN. Microphones will be muted throughout the proceedings except when it is the candidate's turn to speak, a measure aimed at curtailing interruptions that have marred previous debates. CNN has said that moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash “will use all tools at their disposal to enforce timing and ensure a civilized discussion.”
Each candidate will be provided with a pen, notepad, and a bottle of water on stage; however, no props or written notes will be allowed.

We have already seen everything we need to see in the last 8 years. No way I am watching whatever it is they think it will be. I am sure I will see all the horrific details here in a few hours anyway.
It's crazy that anyone believes they're going to glean anything from this. What question do people think is going to get resolved here? Is there anyone who seriously doesn't already have their mind made up about both of these guys?
Trump is going to do his vague, rambling spiel about how immigrants are rapists and gish gallop around the stage while Biden is going to get all misty-eyed about how much pork barrel spending he managed to pass over his term and give a bunch of empty euphemisms about "coming together" or w/e. Maybe say something racist about Palestine.
What are people hoping to get out of this? Honest question.
We're all desperately hoping that upon seeing Trump in a real life situation instead of a fucking game show, his cult will wake up.
You know that all the trumpets will see the next day is a compilation cut on Fox of everytime Biden stutters or says "uh." Trump could admit he went to Epstein Island to have sex with underage girls and none of his cult will see it, or say CNN deepfaked the statement.
Because a ton of people haven't been following this stuff and need to be reminded of who Trump is and what policies he represents.

Same answer here, they're just looking for entertainment. They have a man they like in the ring, and they're hoping he throws a few good punches at that other bad guy.

If Biden says “No, I’m serious….” followed by an obvious statement, then I will take a drink. I like Biden (please don’t flame me, I get he is old and no I don’t support a genocide), but I die whenever he says this phrase. It’s overused and therefore means nothing to me.

There is no live audience for the debate and microphones will be muted when it isn't the candidate's turn to speak. Candidates will have 2 minutes to respond to questions and 1 minute for rebuttals. There will be no opening statements but there will be 2 minute closing statements. Moderators will ensure courteous discussion and fact-checking.

Nothing they say will swing me either way. Waste of time watching it. Even if they debated in my own home, I would just ask them both kindly to leave the property, and wonder who let them into my house to begin with.
