STALIN–“Comrade Molotov–the most dedicated to our cause. He should give his life for the cause of the party.”
MOLOTOV–Coming to the speaker’s tribune completely admits his mistakes before the Central Committee, but he stated that he is and will always be a faithful disciple of Stalin.
STALIN–(interrupting Molotov). This is nonsense. I have no students at all. We are all students of the great Lenin.
VOICE FROM THE FLOOR–We need to elect Comrade Stalin as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.
STALIN–No! I am asking that you relieve me of the two posts!
-Speech by Stalin at the Plenum of the Central Committee, CPSU, October 16, 1952.
Get back to your post, soldier.
As is tradition
I see absolutely no need for this @CARCOSA@hexbear.net. This is just adding fuel to a very silly fire. Granted, it didn't need to be started but also it's very very silly. It would also be very very silly if we lose the top admin every single time something doesn't go smoothly. You probably feel bleh right now, but push onwards and that feel will pass.
+1 reject the resignation
I move Carcosa be reinstated immediately as there was no vote on this decision.
But we got back the original top mod @TransComrade69@hexbear.net
And so we can have both? Both of you have contributed in very real ways to the site over the years. We don't need to have just one top admin. We don't need that kind of hierarchy. Go take a break, do something kind for yourself, take care of yourself, and then hop back on that horse and get back to contributing to this community in the ways that only you can. Nobody is asking for you to step down. We just want to shitpost. Hexbear can handle all of these things at the same time, we are capable of it.
Getting tc is great but there's still no need to lose an admin over a comm closure being slightly mishandled. Let's put this in perspective, it's NOT as big an issue as the slop eaters have memed it into and I am a slop eater lol
Stalin's first resignation
Comrades! we should all unanimously ask comrade @CARCOSA@hexbear.net to again be head admin!
I'm opening to return, but I will not be the head admin (I never was!)
@CARCOSA@hexbear.net is the most normal person out of all mods and admins, the site would be much worse without their levelheadedness
Thank you that is kind of you to say, but I assure you I am very abnormal
Nobody said you weren't, you gotta be a little bit crazy when you're working in DA INSAEN ASLUM
One of us! One of us!
And yet...
@CARCOSA@hexbear.net We luv U
I think this was the first time I've seen a problem with how the site was being managed, so that's a pretty good track record overall.
I think it would be a shame to lose a historically quite good admin over this.
Logging in to deny Carcosa's resignation.
unless they really want to I guess I dunno :(
I also really DO NOT want Carcosa to resign 😬😬😬😬😬
Repeating other sentiments about Carcosa being level headed
I think self crit at most rather than resignation or stepping back from decision making over 1 "bad" decision. Seems very impulsive considering how many good/correct decisions were made over the last 4 years which easily could have been inflection points to losing the balance of intersectional Marxist interests and degrading the community into a state of decline.
Based on the last 4 years believe Carcosa should stay an admin and stay in decision making.
without carcosa, there would be no new hexbear!
@CARCOSA@hexbear.net come back!
I'm willing to if the site wants me to
In light of Carcosa's statement it's clear my reaction in the megathread was based on a misunderstanding concerning Carcosa's doomed but valiant effort to instill some human values into the rest of lemmy, it unfortunately backfired and me and others uncharitably assumed the worst, so I publicly apologize for that
Paranoia and a lack of trust clearly won the day and to my shame I aided in that, but I hope Carcosa rethinks their decision and once more takes their rightful place at the helm of this experiment in leftist forum-building
I want to throw my hat in here and say that CARCOSA has been an exemplary admin in all of my interactions with them. Always responsive to problems and issues, always willing to hear feedback, and continually supportive of events on Hextube; their stickying of movie threads on the home page has been instrumental in establishing a consistent userbase there. The very fact that CARCOSA does not seek to be admin is precisely why they must be one.
CARCOSA, come back!
I posted my response in the new strugglediscussionthread
Carcosa please do not go. Unless it's for your own sake, but don't go because you feel like you did something wrong.
Yes. Full support for the main admin
I've had my criticisms of the way this was handled and of the behaviour of some mods in response, but I think it's a real shame that Carcosa seems to feel the need to step away. Their effort here doesn't go unrecognised and I hope they'll be back, when they're ready.
It really feels like we've lost one the people who was actually willing to talk to the community, does self-crit, and even admidst the storm was consistently willing to engage. Exactly the sort of person who should continue being one of the admin and mod team.
were you guys mean to CARCOSA??
Ye
everyone, I know that emotions run high when it comes to the only space in our lives that isn't fully permeated by capitalism but we have to keep our heads!
Oh there's a thread about this here also. Yes I vote to reject Carcosa's resignation also.
i mean it's a puppetshow version of how real organizing happens, right? an organization flourishes through the efforts of a small number of people who are contributing the majority of the time, effort, and resources, and even if the structure is pretty horizontal or the administrative group is transparent and open, detractors will inevitably focus on how their outsize control and influence signifies that they are separated from the rank and file.
That might be true, but the mod team statements have also given me the impression that they don't view themselves as part of the rank and file users and, in fact, hold us in contempt
I support the restoration of our Admin and the suppression of the revisionist-factionalist anti-mod group.
I agree. They clearly were trying their best to balance different interests, and were unfortunately put in an unwinnable position. Their leadership has been a big net positive to the site.
I disagree with the Inciting Decision, but even more strongly disagree with Carcosa stepping down over it. They have shown time and again that they're an excellent leader and admin, and the site will be diminished if we lose that. A mea culpa about how the decision was made is fine I guess, and self-crit is always great for anyone with any power, but losing one of our most competent and caring admins is not going to make this better.
Throwing my hat in for not resigning. The situation was messy but your handling of it and overall respectful tone and willingness to engage in good faith is what good leadership is. The site needs that and it is in situations like this where it is proved.
Please do not resign @CARCOSA@hexbear.net. My brief interaction with you earlier this year was overwhelmingly positive and meant a lot to me because I think this site and the associated cytube mean more to me than I care to admit.
Additionally, these recent decisions seemed to be the initiative of multiple users, and you simply presented their will to us - I feel we have not heard the full story.
Thank you for all you've done here and I genuinely hope you will reconsider in favor of continuing.
While this wasn't the best handled struggle sesh in recent times it ultimately wasn't the worst we've had. No major harm done or need for Carcosa or anyone else to go. Except that user who may be a mod on their 20th alt, wtf is up with that?
leader decides all content must promote revolutionary vanguard thought
doesn't want to lead a revolutionary vanguard
leaves
Welcome back @TransComrade69@hexbear.net!!
Don't leave if you don't want to @CARCOSA@hexbear.net but leave if you do, being the face of an admin team or involved in these decisions is a lot of work and emotional effort on a good day, so do what's best for you first and foremost!
But if you're able to and want to come back, I think it's safe to say we all want you back <3
Edit: Goodbye TC69 it was nice to see you for the 3 times I saw your posts this time before you deleted your account :(
Carcosa is what I would consider a Rightly-Guided admin. They've always been responsive and judicious from everything that I've seen.
We've had controversial policy changes before, even larger ones than this and they're never easy.
Ultimately I accept the reasoning behind closing dәnk and drec; I think anyone who's that attached to them has probably been engaging with them to a level that can be characterized as mental self-harm. I was talking with a friend just yesterday about how sometimes it seems like we're constantly fixated on people whose opinions we will not change, and have this morbid commitment to locking ourselves in the dialectic of opposition. This is not just rent-free, this is a whole public housing project in our brains.
Give me one thousand cases of a misguided person who's half-right but stumbles into incorrect conclusions, before even one case of a wilfully ignorant, egotistic Australian college student trying to be edgy while having a 9-year-old's understanding of the world.
Also I do wish that other people across the lemmyverse would see this instance as a fierce bastion of altruism, like I do.
as always they did their best to herd the outdoor cats that are our userbase, mods, and their fellow admins. even when it's not smooth i always feel it comes from a good place and i hope they will reconsider the admin decision making stuff and remain involved because i think their ability to be as impartial as any of us can be along with their experience makes them indispensable to keeping the john kerry rock stacking past connected to wherever we're headed in the future in a somewhat cohesive way
