So, needless to say, this past week has been eventful for our fledgling community. One of the hardest trials I was faced with was choosing what to use for the icon of our lovely community. I am not kidding when I tell you that I was just literally sitting in front of my monitor motionless, racking my brain for the perfect, inoffensive, but distinctly manga-styled image that could serve as our icon. That is when I remembered that there was a character custom created to be as inoffensive and average as possible: Cid Kagenou. For extra effect, I grabbed an image of him while he is in "Mob Mode". You can find the source of the image here in chapter 7 of Eminence in Shadow. I am open to suggestions for a banner, but I don't think it is strictly necessary. I am happy to wait until inspiration strikes.
Most of the content this past week consisted of me posting some of my past favorite oneshots. I personally really love oneshots and try my best to seek out good ones. There is a lot that goes into a satisfying story, so to be able to do it within a single chapter or even a couple panels/pages is no mean feat. Also, I think oneshots are a good on-ramp to manga for people that are reading it for the first time. It lets you quickly explore different genres/styles/sensibilities to find the vibe that fits you. All that being said, expect more oneshots from me going forward, but I am also going to be posting serialized series that I follow and like (and maybe some that I don't like but hate-read).
Finally, I will end this post by recommending my favorite SOL series Atsumare! Fushigi Kenkyu-bu. It is digestible, short chapters that deliver good laughs and don't get bogged down in pointless drama.
