I've been saying it for years: were currently going through a soft reboot of the Post-Civil War/Reconstruction era. There are an incredible number of parallels.
There are. Also, progressivism, robber barons, gilded age. Unfortunately, a world war might follow. Then, a red scare, unionization and a New Deal. History is literally repeating. The unknown variable is climate change.
Other unknown variable imho, is nuclear weaponary, which made it impossible to continue WW2. We haven't seen or experienced a "hot" war between nuclear nations since that's been possible. (Though I imagine climate change makes nuclear confrontation more likely, albeit probably indirectly.)
Not a global expert by any means, but the first war over water is on the horizon. Egypt and Ethiopia will go to war over a damn dam on their border. The deal they’re making won’t last.
