At this point, it warms my doomer heart to see liberals freaking out at the idea of the consequences of their own choices coming back to bite them. You've all been full throated in your support of the boot of American Empire stomping down on the neck of minorities and the global South, but the slightest idea that it might be your neck under the boot and you all fall to pieces.
You love to see it, folks.
Trumps first election should have been a wake up call that continuing to support Western neoliberal domination would only lead to Trumpian fascism (which is ultimately the same thing, just without the pretentious displays of 'decorum'), but instead you all doubled down on it. Well, maybe a second term will finally make it sink in.
I used to also subscribe to this idea, treating Trump as a wake up call for the left in the US, but clearly this didn't happen in his first term.
There's no large-scale support for the left, barely any effective organization, very few left-wing politicians who could actually do anything. If Trump got a second term, the response would likely not be any different.
Don't get me wrong, I have no expectation that liberals will open their eyes. They responded to the first Trump term by lurching hard to the right to fill the space vacated by the GOP.
I just like reminding them that they were given every warning and opportunity to not go down this road, and they chose to anyway. They shouldn't expect any sympathy when they're the ones going under the wheels of the machine they insisted on feeding.
The more you fight fascism, the more you actually enable fascism
Trust me bro, it totally makes sense
All you gotta do is allow fascism, and it will totally go away! And workers will own the means of production! And we'll all get a pony and a blowjob! Trust me, bro, it totally makes sense!
