[Vote] Should we pre-emptively defederate Threads?

Threads will be implementing federation in the near future and many instances have been discussing whether they should be pre-emptively defederated to protect the fediverse. See below for our local discussion thread, which will remain active until this vote is complete.

Given that this is a time-sensitive issue and it's the holiday season, we decided to initiate the vote a few days early to make sure everyone gets a chance to vote. The vote will be tallied on Friday, December 29th.

  • Yes.

Zuckerberg is here to annihilate us. That’s his sole motivation.

    • If the documentary The Social Network taught us anything, it's that his empire isn't seen as cool and people don't trust him carte blanche anymore. I really think this is a play for Meta to be seen as cool, because Facebook isn't anymore, and Oculus may not be the winner when they bought it. I think he sees the writing on the wall for Instagram and their new project in the coming decade if he does or doesn't have the link to what he thinks could be the next big thing.

I don't know if I should be happy or worried for ActrivityPub on either outcome.
