Any service that is subscription based is dead to me. I've reached my breaking point.
Subscription based services are okay. You pay for water, electricity, maybe a gym membership....
What's not okay is that they paint it as "exciting news!"

Do you not make a monthly payment for water and power? If not, then where do you live so that I move there?
There's a difference between paying for usage and paying for access.
Although with all the fees added, most of what you pay isn't even usage anymore...
California, I have rainwater collection that amounts to 3200 gallons, and solar panels. Power company pays my water bill.
I have a filter to use the water for drinking or cooking but currently just use it to water plants
Cool. But you're not OP, though. I bet California has utility companies that charge monthly.
They do, but as you've agreed elsewhere it's long since past time to nationalize utilities, telecommunications, education, madecine, and basic housing.
