How did Russia go from being the most progressive country in the world to being the reactionary land that it is today?

  Equal rights for women, labor rights, workers representation, overthrow of feudalism and support for decolonial struggles
  
  To add to the other comment, universal education and healthcare. Even their infrastructure projects would be considered progressive.
