Dont use Reddit username or Facebook username or anything like that even if it could be cool. That way you dont have to worry even if some log file or error stack trace recorded your username.
Ok, I don'tunderstand what this guys sayingunderstand. Some people use their real name, lemmy name, or other names from social media as their PC users name. This would mean when posting logs your accounts could be found.
Personally, I'd just be sure that my user is called something unique on my PC. User is a bit generic, I'd prefer something a bit nicer. Though of course that might be a way to try and avoid fingerprinting incase you send your logs on lemmy, then post another on github where you use your real name
Yes, that second part, I meant that. I used to send my log files in a dark web forums and one of them started teasing me with my real name. It wasnt as bad but "Dark Web" users knowing your real name is weird.
