They’re doing their part by using their platform to spread awareness of the issue and get people to chip in. No good deed goes unpunished.
It's pretty, I don't know if ignorant is the right word? But here they are asking us for money when each of them are wealthy enough to donate huge amounts themselves and not even feel it. It just looks bad.
Also Oprah apparently owns over 2k acres on Maui when there are people who's lives have been absolutely ruined and they will likely be homeless. If she really cares, why not donate land? Why not build homes on that land for those that lost their homes?
I'm not saying Oprah and Dwayne are being intentionally scummy but they're just so out of touch to not realize how it looks.
Anytime I see "Awareness", I see it as a laundering of donation mnbey to an executive board.
