I've felt the call to get into history of the American Civil War. But I also am white and live in the south.
Atun shei films is your guy.
Never felt that for the Civil War but WW2 history has a shameful stigma as well. I'm just here for the unfathomable high-water mark of human achievement, ingenuity, and international cooperation. Salivate over goose-stepping fascists somewhere else.
Can I salivate over the Schwerer Gustav railway gun in particular? Like it's a fine encapsulation over the fascist stupidity of bigger is better, but holy fuck I love that it existed! It being a waste of resources and time is just fucken icing on the cake.
I'm with you there but there are so many utterly deranged ideas during that time that it could be it's while sub genre. Underwater tanks are a big fav of mine.
Also multiple attempts at making flying tanks, all of which devolved into "Just shove it into a glider".
Okay now I can't get the idea of multiple tank models joining together to make a Nazi Voltron. In their usual fashion it well be ruinously expensive and do a worse job than 5 separate tanks, but at least it will be cool.
... okay, you can't just drop a mention of something like underwater tanks without elaborating just a little!
Germany wanted to invade England with tanks, made them air tight with massive hoses so they could go right under the English strait.
Fun thing is the underwater tank part worked, problem was the English strait is... Not a flat or hard surface. The tanks had to go through terrain they were in no way able to navigate, in the near pitch black of the deep water and if they stopped they'd sink into the silt of the sea floor.
Then the crew would have to swim for it. I have no idea if the strait is deep enough to give you the bends but fuck that must have been miserable.
"The" civil war? Found the american 😋
They were literally responding to a comment about the American Civil war. There's no need to restate which civil war they're referring to.
