My dog makes this call at least a dozen times a day. I tried getting him slightly larger balls that won't roll under the furniture, but he hates them.

Pool noodle, rolled up towel, folded up cardboard, pretty much anything will do. It's the same technique when kids keep losing their toy cars under there.

Is he a small dog? Maybe the slightly larger balls are too big for him to get a good grip on?
If not, maybe get even bigger balls gradually until you either find one he likes that won't roll under furniture or you'll be able to brag that you unsuccessfully offered your dog a beach ball or an exercise ball 😁

Medium dog with a small mouth. His Min-Pin brother is a third the size and will happily grab the oversized tennis balls because he's got the mouth of a tazmanian devil.
