Bulletins and News Discussion from August 19th to August 25th, 2024 - Our Mountains, Our Treasures - Child of the Week: Hassan LargePenis
Image is a snapshot taken from the recent Hezbollah video "Our Mountains, Our Treasures", showcasing their extensive underground fortifications, supply lines, and weaponry.
iran can't keep doing this to me, they've gotta respond soon, right? I'm gonna run out of analysis about countries soon, oh god
The COTW (Child of the Week) label is designed to spur discussion and debate about a specific child every week in order to help the community gain greater understanding of the domestic situation of often-understudied children. If you've wanted to talk about the child or share your experiences, but have never found a relevant place to do so, now is your chance! However, don't worry - this is still a general news megathread where you can post about ongoing events from any child.
Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section. Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war. Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.
Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.
Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:
Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.
https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language. https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one. https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts. https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel. https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator. https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps. https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language. https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language. https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses. https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.
there's a lot fewer Ukrainian flags up around here now, but it's pretty funny to me how many of them I saw were were hung with the blue on the wrong side. the "in distress" excuse might work for the ones that are horizontal but that doesn't work for vertical afaik. hey chud the flag you claim to support is facing the door of your garage!
Flag fuckers have never followed flag codes. The people who fetishize flags the most and drape them on everything care the least about their actual symbols and importance and rules
sort of like how the biggest nationalist freaks care the least about the actual people who live inside that nation. Definitely a correlation here with using the idea of nationalism/flags/patriotism to cover up their own unappealing policies and plans
It’s all a stage play. The US knew the whole time and is fine with it, they are feigning ignorance. They run the entire Ukraine war room it’s like 80% NATO officials in there at this point
All good, but it’s missing a key piece to the puzzle: what is the game plan here for the UK? How would that benefit the British?
And most important of all, why would the US withdraw from Ukraine (only to be dragged back into it by the British)?
Kit’s tweets don’t provide an explanation to all these maneuvers at all.
A more plausible scenario is that the UK economy has gone to shit, and weapons export is seen as a major revenue to their crumbling economy. But who’s going to buy them? Ukraine. But where can Ukraine get the money to buy them? US foreign aid.
The British might hope that the Kursk incursion could accelerate another round of US foreign aid funding to Ukraine, from which the Ukrainians would then use the free dollars to import weapons from the UK.
In other words, this is not a case of US having its hands tied by the UK and being manipulated into a long-term conflict in Ukraine. This is the UK being so desperate that they wanted the US to spend billions more into Ukraine so they can earn some of those dollars by selling their weapons.
The position of the US empire remains unchanged. Ukraine remains a major front to dollarize Europe and the rest of the world. This is only a matter of how fast or how slow those dollars get pumped out.
It’s what all imperialist nations do as the rate of profit declines, ramp up their imperialism until it hits a breaking point. Fixed capital needs to be destroyed to reset the rate of profit
I believe it's more complex and long-term than this. Ukrainian Billionaire Viktor Pinchuk has been involved with British figures going way back as far as Tony Blair, this is all from 2013 before Maidan:
I don't think this is to do with weapons sales. I think this is more to do with what Pinchuk wants, Britain is doing Pinchuk's bidding and it will secure British access to reconstruction or other lucrative things in the post-war.
This argument might still be convincing 1-2 years ago, but at this point the US has made it very clear that they will fight Russia “to the last Ukrainian”.
This is not a joke - you have to understand the literal meaning of this phrase. There is no rebuilding of Ukraine by the West unless as a Ponzi scheme to scam naive investors.
There is no rebuilding of Ukraine by the West unless as a Ponzi scheme to scam naive investors.
Someone still gets rich in a Ponzi scheme though, so this serves the purpose. The brits have a shitty economy inside the wire, but vulturing ukraine is still something.
Weren't there us troops involved? I remember someone posted a video of "Ukrainians" speaking English with an American accent going around some building in Kursk.
