China has been saying, specially but not exclusively to its own people, that the growth of past decades is thanks to "socialism with chinese characteristics". As Xi tightens his control on the economy, growth falters, debt turns into crisis and the numbers are increasingly faked, one is tempted to take the opposite stance: that the success of China was because of economic liberalization, and it lasted for as long as those policies were in place.

  • This community is about Classical Liberalism and not Liberalism.

Liberalism was originally about right-wing people that value liberty, economic freedom and individual freedom and individual rights. Later the term has been used by left-wing people and, as is today, a Liberal person is a left-wing person. The term has technically only changed in America, however, many other countries seem to also understand Liberalism as a left-wing ideology; it's still a right-wing ideology in some countries though. Classical Liberalism, like Neoliberalism, is a right-wing ideology.
