  • Anyone know about the state of endgame for wonderlands?

    Last time I checked, wonderlands endgame was terrible. Huge lack of dedicated drops, stupid rare drop chances for anything decent, and like 100 chaos chambers. Idk if anything has been fixed, but I do want to play the game. The gameplay and story imo were great, just the endgame sucked from what I remember. And also, are there any mods that fix the endgame problems if they are still a thing?

  • How to fast travel to Crawmerax, Armory and Ajax in Borderlands 1 on PC

    NOTE: Please backup your saves before attempting any of this as it involves modding your game files and that always poses a risk of data loss if things go wrong. Also, there may be some differences between original and remaster that I'll mention.

    So the Knoxx DLC is notorious for being a driving simulator and BL1 DLC not having any fast travel stations except for the starting areas makes farming very tedious. Fortunately, there are ways around that on PC:

    The "simple" way for Crawmerax and the Crimson Lance Armory

    • Download the Essentials Mod by LegX

    Remaster/Enhanced version: https://www.nexusmods.com/borderlandsgotyenhanced/mods/7

    Original version: https://www.nexusmods.com/borderlands/mods/34

    • Extract the WillowGame folder into your installation directory with the same existing folder: eg. a default Steam install should be in \Steam\steamapps\common\BorderlandsGOTYEnhanced\WillowGame\

    • Go to save data location eg. \Documents\My games\Borderlands Game of the Year\WillowGame\Config

    • Open WillowEngine.ini. Search for DefaultGlobalsDefinitionName=gd_globals.General.Globals

    • Replace it with DefaultGlobalsDefinitionName=gd_globals_custom.General.Globals

    • Launch game

    • Open Pause menu -> Options -> Mouse and Keyboard -> Keybindings -> Bind Fast travel to Craw/Knoxx Armory to whatever button

    !

    Notes: If you travel with the bind and are done with the area make sure you save quit instead of just traveling to it again as that will not save your current progress\

    Also binding Fast Travel UI lets you fast travel from anywhere which is a big QoL improvement.

    The manual way for Ajax (and Craw/Knoxx if needed)

    • Go to \BorderlandsGOTYEnhanced\WillowGame\CookedPC\DLC3\Maps

    • Copy dlc3_gondola_p.umap

    • Go to \BorderlandsGOTYEnhanced\WillowGame\CookedPC\Maps\Arid

    • Paste dlc3_gondola_p.umap

    • Rename Arid_SkagGully_P.umap to something like Backup_Arid_SkagGully_P.umap for safekeeping

    • Rename dlc3_gondola_p.umap to Arid_SkagGully_P.umap

    • Launch game

    • Fast travel to Skag Gully

    • You should spawn within 1 minute of Ajax as shown here

    !

    • For Lance Armory and Crawmerax Repeat with dlc3_uberboss_p.umap for Crawmerax and dlc3_lancedepot_p.umap for Armory which can also in found in \BorderlandsGOTYEnhanced\WillowGame\CookedPC\DLC3\Maps

    Another map you can replace is 'Arid_Cave_P.umap' which corresponds to The Lost Cave. You can use any map as a replacement but those are just the ones I've used before.

    Note: the gondola file for Ajax may only work for the remaster or there may be a better one to use for the original if you search the large .umap files for yourself and try each one you might be able to find one that spawns you right in front of his area in the original version of BL1

  • Does this Playthrough Plan work for Borderlands 2 TVHM?

    Hey guys, I've been trying to find the ideal playthrough order for Borderlands 2 to also maximize the fun my partner and I have and the advice on the internet is all over the place but the important part seems to be just don't over level yourself in TVHM. We just beat the main game and then went directly to Tiny Tina's DLC because we needed a break from just doing the story again so decided to do the extra content. I chose that one because I heard there's good equipment in it. So would this order work?

    1. Normal game
    2. Start TVHM
    3. Play Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon keep <--- we're here (level 36)
    4. Catch up in the main story until the levels of the missions catch up (not sure if we over-leveled ourself in the main story by playing this DLC so that's why I put this here) playing only the main story to avoid too much experience (maybe the occasional side mission with an item I or my partner enjoyed, like Lilith's shield or the hilarious talking robot shield?)
    5. Play some other DLC (probably Torgue's because now that I met him in Tiny Tina's, he seems hilarious)
    6. Rush through rest of the main story and hope we get to the end of TVHM close to level 50.
    7. Start UVHM
    8. Play all the DLC we didn't play before now that it will automatically scale with us
    9. I doubt we'll have the patience to play the whole main story again at this point, so we'll probably move on to the The Pre-Sequel. We've got 3 more Borderlands games to play after all.

    Does that seem like a good plan?

    Thanks!

  • Guide for fast on-demand XP in Borderlands 1 (Merchant of Death glitch)

    Borderlands 1 is punishing when you're underleveled and you need to be diligent with sidequests to avoid being underleveled at all times. Abusing a glitch with the Merchant of Death challenge allows you to get 20k XP on demand which is a significant chunk until the late game and can be used throughout the playthrough if done properly.

    Steps:

    1. Have at least 150k (Guide for early money) and the Merchant of Death challenge not yet completed (Sell 1200 items)

    2. Empty your inventory as much as possible (ideally all minus your equipped slots)

    3. Go to a health vending machine

    4. Purchase as many 'Minor Healing Kits' as you can

    5. Sell the kits (Do not buy them back)

    6. Repeat until 1199 items have been sold (Check the challenge progress in menu under Cassette icon -> Challenges/Medal tab)

    7. Purchase 1 more kit

    8. Sell the kit

    9. Buy it back (Otherwise you won't be able to repeat the challenge)

    10. Pause menu -> Exit (quitting to main menu while saving progress)

    11. Re-enter game and repeat steps 7-10

    [Note: when you load into the game you need to wait at least 30 seconds before you save quit for the game to force a save. Otherwise, your progress won't be saved if you quit out again too early]

    When you buy back the last item needed to complete the challenge, the challenge itself goes back to being at 1199/1200 after you have already gotten the 20k XP which is what allows you to do this over and over again each time you save quit and re-enter.

    Bonus: How not to wreck your hands doing this

    If you're on PC, you can avoid spamming the enter key 2400 times by installing AutoHotkey and using this script:

    ``` #NoEnv ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases. ; #Warn ; Enable warnings to assist with detecting common errors. SendMode Input ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability. SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% ; Ensures a consistent starting directory.
    Shift:: Send {enter 15} return
    ``` This makes your Shift key do 15 instant Enter presses (you can adjust that number to match your free inventory space). Doing this can let you get to 1199 much faster than manual and takes less effort.

  • Guide for maxing ammo capacity at start of Borderlands 1

    You can use the DLC Fast Travel station in Fyrestone to go to the T-Bone Junction map, farm the 2 accessible chests and sell the loot to buy the max SDUs for each weapon type and start the game with max ammo. This also helps you set up for the Merchant of Death glitch which lets you get a lot of XP on demand throughout the playthrough.

  • Favorite boss fight in the franchise?

    For me it has to be Felicity in the PreSequel because of all the build up to it and the sense of hopelessness of it all. Can't think of one that gets me as invested in the outcome as that one. Maybe the Nakayama in BL2 DLC but for different reasons.

  • Ideal playthrough order for Borderlands 1
    blstats.com The Ideal Playthrough for Borderlands 1

    The oldForum link is busted. So here is a copy of the text I retrieved via wayBackMachine. I couldn’t bare to see this gem of a text fade into archives alone. Someone can feel free to dress it up with formatting. I’m starting another playthrough via backwards compatibility on xbox one so I wante...

    Copy of a post from old GB forums that outlines the order by which you should tackle DLCs and Playthroughs so that you're as appropriately leveled for each section:

    >tl;dr: |Main Game PT 1| --> |Main Game PT 2| --> |Moxxie PT 2| --> |Knoxx PT 2| --> |ZI PT 2| --> |Robolution PT 2| --> |scaled PT 2.5 free-play everywhere!|

    The ideal playthrough:

    Playthrough 1:

    The only thing you need to worry about here is keeping an eye on the level of the story mission.

    Arid Badlands:

    In general, do all or most of the side-missions until you defeat Sledge, and then move-on into the Dah Headlands. Level 18-20 by the Headlands.

    New Haven/Rust Commons:

    Once at New Haven, head out to find Tannis. Be sparing with your side-missions, and only do them if you need to level-up. 23 - 25 by the time you Seek out Tannis, 26 - 27 by the time you make the Secret Rendezvous at Jaynistown.

    The goal here is to be done with PT 1 at about level 32 - 35, depending on how many Lance and Guardians you can skirt past at the end.

    Playthrough 2:

    Playthrough 2 is really the keystone to everything subsequent. Think of PT 1 as the introduction, and PT 2 as the real meat of the game. You’ll get a better feel for your character, and start to specialize and make your build distinct. Plus, completing PT 2 enables the global scaling for the main game, DLC1 and DLC 4.

    The same formula used in PT 1 applies here, except that we have Knoxx sitting out there with a hard starting point of level 51.

    Dahl Headlands:

    I usually do most of the side-missions here, but I try to reach New Haven around level 42.

    New Haven/Rust Commons:

    I like to reach New Haven at 42, and then make-sure I’m at Jaynistown in Rust Commons East at about level 46 (basically as soon as I’ve killed Krom and handed that piece to Tannis, I head over to do the “Secret Rendezvous” mission.) Rakk Hive and Taylor Kobb are about 47. Old Haven - Salt Flats and beyond will be around 48-50.

    The goal, then, will be to finish PT 2 as close to level 50 as possible.

    My last run left me at level 52 after defeating the Destroyer. I skipped nearly all side-missions after the Headlands, and dodged as many fights in the Descent and Eridian Promontory as I could, since Lance and Guardians give a ton of XP.

    This actually put me at a good level for the bosses and encounters along the way. I was matched-level with the Rakk Hive and nearly everything afterward, and the Destroyer fight was long despite the 2 level difference. Update: Since the real-time scaling for the Main Game now kicks in when you reach the Vault, the Destroyer will adjust relative to your level, and due to the way this adjustment works, he will actually be two levels above you, now, rather than being stuck at 50 like the olden days.

    Moxxie PT 2

    The way Moxxie acts toward you and some of the things she says in Knoxx imply that the player has gone through her trials prior to starting Knoxx. This also gives a little reprieve from the story-focused structure, and awards a free skill point.

    I actually leveled-up from my run of the Prove Yourself mission, leaving me at level 53 going into Knoxx. This was mostly due to challenges I completed while in the arenas. Leveling up from this a rare occurrence.

    Knoxx PT 2

    Knoxx PT 2 hard-starts at 50-51, and the initial stages can be very challenging for a level 50 player. Being a level or two above will leave it interesting without it being punishingly difficult for a player who still has the largely hodge-podge gear that comes from minimal farming.

    I entered at 53 and found I was on-level for nearly all of the key areas. I may have been a level above the first shock-trooper barricade, but that fight is ridiculous when you’re proper level, so the difficulty felt about normal.

    I was 54-55 going through Lockdown, which is on-par with the enemies there, and 56 when I got to General Knoxx, which was on-par with him.

    The Gen. Knoxx fight was a good challenge with my mediocre gear, and the level I was at. I should note that I sharply avoided doing almost any side-missions.

    Killing Knoxx leveled me up to 57.

    Loot Larceny

    With the main story mission of Knoxx done, (and the patch 1.41 in effect) there are no more hard level starts left to worry about.

    The only concern now is that there are elements of DLC 4 that reference DLC 1, so to keep the story consistent, do Zombie Island PT 2 before you do Robolution PT 2.

    My first playthrough post-scaling-patch left me at level 66 when the last Clap Trap had fallen and all was said and done.

    Robolution gives us a nice bookend to stop on, and from here we have the entire main game and all DLCs in real-time scaling, and we can go back and do all the side-missions we left behind, and have fun farming for uber-1337 gear, as well as return to PT 1 for skillpoints and backpack SDUs.

    Check the post link for extra details on missions etc..
